Certified Grassfed by AGW

The Grassfed Welfare Label

Certified Grassfed by AGW

An optional, additional accreditation to Certified Animal Welfare Approved by AGW, Certified Grassfed by AGW is a certification and logo that guarantees food products come from animals fed a 100 percent grass and forage diet, raised outdoors on pasture or range and managed according to meaningful welfare and environmental standards on an independent farm. While other grassfed labels exist, none can match the breadth, integrity and transparency that Certified Grassfed by AGW offers.

While consumer demand for grassfed meat may be sky-rocketing, not all grassfed certifications are what they seem. Some may even permit practices like confining large numbers of cattle on feedlots for long periods outside the growing season and trucking in cut grass or forage as feed, or the use of growth hormones and routine antibiotics.

With independent on‐farm audits to ensure compliance with our practical and achievable farm standards, Certified Grassfed by AGW provides grassfed farm businesses with the tools they need to clearly differentiate themselves in the marketplace. This is the one grassfed label that farmers, retailers and consumers can count on to meet their expectations. This certification is also available in the U.S., Canada and Africa.

A Greener World is accredited by IOAS for the scope of product certification. Registration number: 83. Please refer to IOAS for current information.

We were looking for a farm certification that could communicate quickly what takes a long time to explain—the involved and thoughtful sustainable practices we adhere to here at the Wolf Creek Farm. When AWA expanded their certification to include the new Certified Grassfed by AGW label we jumped at the opportunity. The more farms that can get into this program and get certified, the better the stewardship of the land and the animals.
