Certified Animal Welfare Approved by AGW is among the world’s leading food labels for animal welfare and pasture-based farming. Consumer Reports has acknowledged Certified Animal Welfare Approved by AGW as the only “highly meaningful” label for farm animal welfare, outdoor access and sustainability. All standards, policies and procedures are publicly available, and AGW is proud to hold ISO 17065 accreditation, demonstrating the highest level of transparency and accountability. Participation in AGW’s certification programmes is voluntary.
Farmers in the programme agree to a minimum of one visit a year from AGW staff or agents, with the possibility of additional visits if deemed necessary, to confirm compliance with the standards during various seasons and to allow observation of animals in different phases of life. Participation in the program is on an annual basis and must be renewed each year. Before applying, please review the husbandry standards for the species in question to make sure they are consistent with your own farming methods and values, and you agree to meet all requirements, such as routine record keeping.
Please Note: If your farm is in the UK and is certified as Organic to EC Regulation 889/2008 and you wish to apply for the Certified Non GMO programme in addition to Animal Welfare Approved then you may apply through completing this application form by indicating so in the Farm Animal Information section.
