Certified Animal Welfare Approved by AGW is among the world’s leading food labels for animal welfare and pasture-based farming. Consumer Reports has acknowledged Certified Animal Welfare Approved by AGW as the only “highly meaningful” label for farm animal welfare, outdoor access and sustainability. All standards, policies and procedures are publicly available, demonstrating the highest level of transparency and accountability. Participation in AGW’s certification programmes is voluntary.
Farmers in the programme agree to a minimum of one visit a year from AGW staff or agents, with the possibility of additional visits if deemed necessary, to confirm compliance with the standards during various seasons and to allow observation of animals in different phases of life. Participation in the program is on an annual basis and must be renewed each year. Before applying, please review the husbandry standards for the species in question to make sure they are consistent with your own farming methods and values, and you agree to meet all requirements, such as routine record keeping.
